Technique and influences

Based on animals, inspiration comes from East End dogs, children's books, museums and animals observed at home and the zoo. I am also very influenced by eighteenth and nineteenth century Staffordshire pots. All the work is hand-built in either white or buff stoneware, using pinch pots for the main forms with limbs and details modelled or built up with slabs or coils. After biscuit firing they are painted with a range of under glaze colours and oxides then glazed and fired to 1220 degrees C.
